A Step Toward IEP Quality and Rigor for Students with Complex Access Needs
Welcome to A Step Toward IEP Quality and Rigor: A Rubric to Guide Development of Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring Methods of the Individualized Education Program for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities.
In Texas, many excellent trainings and guidance documents on the development of the Individualized Education Program already exist. This training is different. The scope has been narrowed to the development process of the PLAAFP, Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring Methods of the IEP for students with significant cognitive disabilities. These three core components greatly impact student involvement, access, and progress in the general education curriculum.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand critical components of the IEP including: PLAAFP, Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring Methods
- Apply the Quality & Rigor Rubric to the IEP’s PLAAFP, Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring sections
- Create PLAAFPs, Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring Methods that are rigorous and of the highest quality
